'Joy Bringer' Linocut

A limited edition, handmade linocut. ‘Joy Bringer’ depicts the well-known folk song of 'Sing a Song of Sixpence'. In the late 14th-century, baking birds in a pie was a practised form of 'entremet' - a novelty dish served between meals at dinner parties with the intention to bring joy. In truth, the joy belongs to those blackbirds; escaping their ill-fated end, to live another joyful day.
