'Joy Bringer' Version 2 Linocut
A limited edition, handmade linocut. ‘Joy Bringer’ depicts the well-known folk song of 'Sing a Song of Sixpence'. In the late 14th-century, baking birds in a pie was a practised form of 'entremet' - a novelty dish served between meals at dinner parties with the intention to bring joy. In truth, the joy belongs to those blackbirds; escaping their ill-fated end, to live another joyful day.

Handmade with love in my home studio, this linocut has been created using the multiblock technique. A single colour version is also available. The design is drawn onto a linoleum block, carved, inked with colour and transferred onto paper using a printing press; all entirely by hand. This is an original handmade piece of artwork and not a digital reproduction.
