Linocut Retreat 2-Day Workshop

£200.00

Discover the art of linocut in this immersive two-day workshop, designed for anyone who wants to slow down, explore deeply, and learn multiple techniques.

Across this relaxed, slow-paced weekend, you’ll step into the world of linocut and create a multi-layered print using your own imagery. No previous experience is needed, the entire process will be demonstrated clearly and calmly with support at every stage.

Under close tuition from Frankie, you’ll learn three printmaking processes - single colour linocut, multiblock and reduction. You’ll also discover how combining them can open up more creative possibilities. You’ll be guided through breaking down your chosen image, planning your layers, carving with creative mark making, and building up your print step-by-step. By the end, you’ll leave with a small edition of your own finished prints.

Day One focuses on carving your key-block, using expressive mark making. You’ll print in single colour, and also transfer the design to a second block for the next day.

Day Two is dedicated to layering colour using your second block, before printing your final key block over the top. You’ll also learn how to register your blocks precisely for clean, professional results.

This retreat is perfect for anyone seeking a longer, more spacious learning experience, especially those who are eager to explore multiple linocut methods and work from their own ideas rather than using templates.

Each day will run 10am - 4:30pm with a short lunch break. All skill levels are welcome to attend, including beginners. More details are below. You must be 16+ to attend. This workshop will be held in the atmospheric Round Tower, next door to my studio at Hotwalls Studios, Portsmouth. PO1 2FS.
